BRAD BARANOWSKI
is the 2022-2023 Fellow assigned to the Federal Judicial Center, the education and research agency for the federal courts. Dr. Baranowski joins the Supreme Court Fellows Program from the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, where he clerked for the Honorable Karen Nelson Moore. He previously clerked for the Honorable David A. Lowy of the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court. Dr. Baranowski earned a B.A., with highest distinction, from Kent State University, an M.A. and a Ph.D. in History from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and a J.D., with highest distinction, from Boston University School of Law, where he was an Articles Editor of the
Boston University Law Review

ANYA KU
is the 2022-2023 Fellow assigned to the Administrative Office of the United States Courts, the central support entity for the Judicial Branch. Ms. Ku joins the Supreme Court Fellows Program from the United States District Court for the Northern District of California, where she clerked for the Honorable Nathanael M. Cousins. Ms. Ku earned a B.A., with distinction, and a J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley, where she was a Publications Editor for the
Berkeley La Raza Law Journal

SAMUEL J. MERCHANT
is the 2022-2023 Fellow assigned to the United States Sentencing Commission, the agency responsible for establishment of sentencing policies and practices for the federal courts. Mr. Merchant joins the Supreme Court Fellows Program from the United States District Court for the Western District of Oklahoma, where he clerked for the Honorable Jodi W. Dishman. Mr. Merchant has also worked in private practice and was an Adjunct Professor at the University of Oklahoma College of Law. Mr. Merchant earned a B.A., with honors, in Philosophy from the University of Central Oklahoma and a J.D., with honors, from the University of Oklahoma, where he was an Assistant Managing Editor of the
Oklahoma Law Review

JOHN L. ROCKENBACH
is the 2022-2023 Fellow assigned to the Supreme Court of the United States, where he will serve in the Office of the Counselor to the Chief Justice. Mr. Rockenbach joins the Supreme Court Fellows Program from the Office of the Solicitor General of Ohio. He was an Adjunct Professor at the Ohio State University Moritz College of Law. He previously clerked for the Honorable Jeffrey S. Sutton of the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit and for the Honorable David R. Stras of the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit. Mr. Rockenbach earned a B.A and a J.D., each with highest distinction, from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where he was a member of the
